Visual Team: Diana Coelho, Diogo Tavares, Enzo Morellato, Joana Pinto, João Silva Guidance: Tiago Campeã Artistic Direction: Diana Amaral

In a dystopian universe where emotions are illegal and freedom is a mirage, Coppélia 2.0 reinterprets classical ballet through a radically contemporary visual and sensory language. The piece merges dance, fashion, music and multimedia in a synesthetic show, where body and digital image intertwine in a cyberpunk narrative about resistance, love and emancipation.

Conceived based on Cinema 4D and After Effects, the visuals were created to dialogue with the choreography throughout the two acts of the play — more than 24 scenes — exploring contrasts between classical and futuristic, hip hop and ballet, techno and classical music. The visual work not only sets the scene, but also expands the narrative, punctuating rhythms, atmospheres and emotional states in constant change.

The project was developed in the context of a collaboration between the Degree in Digital Arts and Multimedia and the Matosinhos Dance Academy, culminating in a presentation at Sala Suggia at Casa da Música, on June 29, 2024.
